Wedding-related events, such as bridal showers, engagement parties, rehearsal dinners and morning-after brunches are sometimes BYO affairs. Celebrate by popping some local sparkling wine!
“There are so many wonderful ways to welcome wine to any celebration,” says Devon Perry, executive director of the Garden State Wine Growers Association. “Bubbles take it up a notch, and with the varietals in New Jersey…you don’t have to go to Champagne, France in order to get a sparkling wine for your event.”
New Jersey has more than 60 licensed wineries, meaning that their tasting rooms are next to at least three acres of vineyards, and they have so many vino options to choose from.
“Not everything is with so much of a sparkle that that’s the main event in every sip,” says Devon. “But if you want to have New Jersey wines at any of your events leading up to your wedding, or if your venue allows for flexibility at the bar, we hope that our sparkling and other celebration-category wines are considered.”
If bubbly isn’t your thing, the Garden State’s wineries also offer everything from pinot noir to chardonnay. “There are other wines that have stories or meaning to couples,” says Devon. “Some people get engaged at our wineries in the vines, for example, so that couple may choose a wine from that location as a part of their toast…we encourage everybody to really involve and welcome New Jersey wine country to their table.”
